Rev. Jim Dowson

The Rev James Dowson B.Th MA is one of the most prominent Christian and political activists today.

Born in Scotland into a staunch Protestant working-class family with a century-long history of involvement in right-wing politics and religious conflict, Jim continued their struggle from a young age. First arrested in 1973 at age 9 for supporting Protestant Militia prisoners in Ulster fighting Marxist death squads, Jim quickly immersed himself in the deadly battle against communism and the Marxist killing machine in Ireland.

A descendant of persecuted Protestant refugees, his fervent passion for God’s people, the true faith, and his sense of duty forged him into a powerhouse of activity and dedication to the cause. Starting as a truck mechanic, Jim educated himself to support his widowed mother after his father, Jimmy, died when Jim was 18.

By 21, he owned a chemical company employing over 40 local people. However, his calling beckoned, and despite being married with a young family, a bombing at a war memorial service in Ireland, which killed 13 civilians, prompted him to abandon business success and financial security to take up arms in defence of innocent Christians against the murderous campaign targeting civilians.

Jim relocated to Belfast, engaging the enemy on the streets, which led to injuries including being shot, hit by a grenade, and blown up in car bomb attacks, as well as imprisonment and significant hardship for his family. Nevertheless, his deep love for justice and intense hatred of communism never waned.

He later led one of the UK’s largest and most militant Pro-Life groups. During this period, he studied for the ministry, completing a 7-year degree in just 4 years, and was ordained in 2000 into the Reformed Congregational Church, serving as a licentiate minister in the slums east of Glasgow.

Jim has a significant record in right-wing politics and is widely credited with orchestrating the first-ever election of a Hard Right party to the EU Parliament in 2009, earning him the British media titles of ‘the Evil Genius of the right’ and ‘The most influential man of Britain’s right wing.’

Now a grandfather 12 children, Jim serves as the incumbent minister of St Mary Magdalene Chapel, the priory Church of the Knights Templar Order UK/Ireland, where he has committed his life to serving God’s people and defending the One True Faith found only in Christ Jesus our Lord.
