FREE SPEECH
Golden Calf
Free speech, as championed in secular society, lacks biblical grounding; Scripture consistently elevates truth and righteousness over unrestrained expression, as Proverbs 10:19 warns: “When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.”
This divine principle prioritises speech that edifies and honours God, not a limitless license to voice every thought.
Modern free speech has morphed into a golden calf, akin to the idol in Exodus 32, where Israel’s worship of a false god provoked divine wrath. Today, it’s exalted above God’s standards, revered as an untouchable right, yet it sows chaos rather than order.

Trojan Horse
Far from being a neutral tool, it functions as a Trojan horse, stealthily ushering in a flood of evils - blasphemy, degeneracy, feminism, even advocating for harm such as abortion or jihad - under the guise of liberty, eroding the moral fabric God intends for individuals and nations.
This unchecked freedom enables specific sins that defy divine design. Blasphemy flourishes as media mocks God - e.g., France’s Charlie Hebdo cartoons (2015) sparked violence yet were defended as “free expression.”
Degeneracy spreads through platforms like X, where pornography, accessed by 70% of men aged 18-34 monthly (IF Studies, 2022), fuels lust and moral decay, contradicting God’s call to purity (Matthew 5:28).
Feminism, amplified by free speech, devalues motherhood - U.S. birth rates fell from 3.7 in 1960 to 1.6 in 2022 (CDC) - while individualism undermines family (Genesis 2:24).
Jihadist rhetoric, protected in nations like the UK (e.g., 2021 hate preacher cases), incites terror, with 43,000 European deaths from terrorism since 1970 (START GTD).
Free speech shields these, acting as a legal bulwark for sin, not righteousness.

Societal Toll
The societal toll is stark. Pornography’s $97 billion industry (2023, Statista) drives sex trafficking—27.6 million victims globally (U.S. State Dept., 2023) - and family breakdown, with 50% of U.S. divorces citing it (American Psychological Association).
Blasphemy and false religions proliferate - UK interfaith events rose 20% since 2010 (Gov.uk) - diluting the gospel (John 14:6).
Feminism and LGBTQ+ advocacy, unchecked, contribute to demographic collapse - Europe’s population is set to drop 7% by 2050 (UN) - as non-procreative lifestyles rise (7.2% U.S. LGBT, Gallup 2022).
This chaos reflects Romans 1:25: humanity worships the creature (self-expression) over the Creator.
Far from divine, free speech in this form subverts God’s design, promoting sin over holiness.
It’s not the restrained liberty of James 1:26 - bridling the tongue - but a false god demanding sacrifice of order for anarchy.
Nations must reject this idol, curbing speech that dishonors God and corrupts society. Legal limits - fines, bans, or imprisonment for blasphemy (e.g., Pakistan’s model), pornography, or jihadist incitement - align with biblical order (1 Timothy 2:2), fostering peace and morality.
Historical Christian societies thrived under such restraint—medieval Europe’s blasphemy laws curbed heresy—proving restraint, not license, upholds righteousness.
Free speech’s modern reign enables decay; rejecting it restores God’s standard for a stable, godly future.
